Tortorella likely to face fine

Rangers coach John Tortorella is likely to face a fine for his comments about the officiating during Monday's Winter Classic, multiple sources told ESPNNewYork.com

Tortorella called the officiating "disgusting" following his team's 3-2 win over Philadelphia on Monday at Citizens Bank Park and questioned the crew's agenda.

"They're two good referees, [but] I thought the game was reffed horribly," Tortorella said of Ian Walsh and Dennis LaRue. "I'm not sure what happened there. Maybe they wanted to get it to overtime. I'm not sure if they have meetings about that or what, but we stood in there."

"That third period," Tortorella said, "it was disgusting."

The fiery coach has been fined twice before for ripping the referees -- $1,000 in March 2002 after Tampa Bay's 4-2 loss to the Flyers, then $10,000 following the Bolts' 4-3 OT loss to Atlanta. Tortorella was also suspended for one game during the Rangers-Capitals playoff series in 2009 for throwing a water bottle at a fan.
