Parise: Devils 'having a blast' in playoffs

Devils captain Zach Parise said in a Friday conference call with reporters that the team has been “having a blast” in the playoffs.

“It’s been awesome,” Parise said. “We’re having a lot of fun. As a team we’re having a blast and I think you can tell how excited we are for everyone else when we score. We’ve had some pretty exciting overtime finishes and the reaction from the bench and the locker room. We’re having a blast and I think that’s making us play better. We’re enjoying being here. We haven’t been here in a while and it gets frustrating when you can’t get over the hump and make it past the first round, like we’ve had a problem with. We’re having fun playing for each other.”

• The Devils have won their last three straight playoff games at home, the first time they’ve had that type of postseason home winning streak since the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals.

• Backup goaltender Johan Hedberg turned 39 on Saturday. Starter Martin Brodeur turns 40 on Sunday.

• The line combinations/defensive pairings in Saturday’s practice remained the same as they were in Game 3.
