The Devils continue to regroup as they wait for Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens. While the team’s offense continues to sputter (just 10 goals to date), head coach John MacLean believes the Devs will light the lamp if his team keeps getting chances.
“As far as scoring chances, we are getting some quality chances,” MacLean said after today’s practice. “We are definitely getting quality chances and I’m confident with this group if we keep getting those chances, the puck is going to go in.”
That echoes the sentiments of GM Lou Lamoriello, who believes the team’s record would be flipped if they had capitalized on all the opportunities they’ve been given to date.
To help promote that capitalization, MacLean assembled some new lines. Here’s how things looked at Tuesday’s practice after the demotion of D Alex Urbom.
Here are some more links to get you caught up on the early season intrigue.
Jason Arnott says the Devils need to have more fun and more fire, according to the Newark Star Ledger.
Patrik Elias says that leadership is a group effort.
In Lou We Trust examines the team’s CORSI numbers and comes to some very interesting conclusions, particularly after the recent line changes (though it’s an admittedly small sample size). Definitely worth checking out.
