The Jets, Patriots and Eagles are showing interest in former Dolphins S Yeremiah Bell, his agent said Sunday night on a South Florida TV show. Agent Drew Rosenhaus also indicated there's no chance of Bell re-signing with the Dolphins.
Bell, 34, released recently in a cap-related move, was a steady starter for the Dolphins, recording at least 100 tackles in each of the last four seasons. He plays strong safety, which may not make him the greatest fit for the Jets, who signed free agent LaRon Landry -- another strong safety-type. It's possible the Jets are looking at Bell as a backup.
The Jets remain thin at safety, with no experienced players beyond Landry and Eric Smith. Former Alabama star Mark Barron, projected as a mid first-round pick in the upcoming draft, is on their radar.
UPDATE: There doesn't appear to be a sense of urgency on the Jets' part, as they have yet to set up a visit with Bell. Chances are, they will wait until after the draft, when they re-evaluate their depth chart.
