The Jets wanted to create a kicking competition, bringing in a veteran to square off against incumbent Nick Folk. They accomplished that Tuesday.
They signed former Rams and Seahawks PK Josh Brown, according to Rex Ryan, who confirmed a New York Post report.
"It's going to be an excellent competition," Ryan said at a charity event in Eatontown, N.J. "I think Nick was better last year than in his first year. I think this will be good for both guys."
Brown, 33, was cut this week by the Rams, who drafted Greg Zuerlein of Missouri Western in the sixth round. Brown's accuracy slipped last season, as he made only 75 percent of his FG attempts (21-for-28) -- not too good, considering the Rams played indoors.
