The Jets signed former Baylor RB Terrance Ganaway, a sixth-round pick, the team announced Monday. It's a four-year deal for about $2.1 million.
After a non-descript start to his college career, Ganaway led the Big 12 last season with 1,547 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns, playing in an offense led by QB Robert Griffin III.
Ganaway will have an opportunity to contribute as a rookie. Beyond Shonn Greene, the Jets don't have any proven backs. At 5-foot-11, 239 pounds, Ganaway could compete for a role as the short-yardage/goal-line back.
The Jets have three of their eight draft picks under contract.
