FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- It was a good news, bad news kind of morning for Jeremy Kerley.
The Jets wideout was named AFC special teams player of the week on Wednesday morning for his breakout performance against Buffalo. But he also woke up with a sore back and likely will not practice on Wednesday.
"Hopefully, he'll feel better tomorrow," Rex Ryan said.
Kerley scored on a 68-yard punt return in New York's win over Buffalo, the Jets' first punt-return touchdown since Santana Moss in 2002. It was one of the biggest plays in the game, giving the Jets a 21-0 lead en route to their blowout win.
"He was outstanding," Ryan said.
But the back injury put a damper on things Wednesday.
Ryan said Kerley and the other injured Jets will be re-evaluated prior to practice to determine whether they can participate.
