Ellis (knee) eyes comeback

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Kenrick Ellis came in from Jets practice damp from effort on the field. With a sprained knee, the defensive tackle hasn’t played in a game since Oct. 8 against Houston, but this was the week coach Rex Ryan tentatively penciled on the calendar for his comeback.

“I’ve just got to prepare as if I’m playing,” said Ellis, who was listed as a Did Not Practice on Thursday but was given quite a workout on the side.

Linebacker Bart Scott (toe) was limited for the second straight day, and RB Joe McKnight did not practice. Ryan noted that McKnight (toe) has played without practicing during other weeks.
