Pace absence excused, will play

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Calvin Pace was not at the Jets practice today for personal reasons, coach Rex Ryan said. It was not injury related, and Ryan expected Pace to play on Sunday.

RB Joe McKnight (ankle) said his ability to move had greatly improved this week after missing the Seattle game. LB Bart Scott (toe) also expects to play. Ryan said that he expected all the Jets to be available, including RB Bilal Powell, who sustained a concussion in Seattle.

WR Stephen Hill practiced today despite cold-related symptoms. He said he’d been taking DayQuil, and expected to play.

TURNER TABLE: Ryan opened up his press conference laughing about former Jet Rob Turner’s comments that the Jets are the NFL equivalent of the Cubs. “We’re bringing our mitts and here we come,” Ryan said. “If they want to play two, that’s also fine with us.” Turner, one of Ryan’s favorite players when he was here, now starts at center for the Rams.

TEBOW BRUSHES OFF ANON: Tim Tebow put his name to it when asked about the aftermath of a story in which an unnamed Jets source called him “terrible.” Rex Ryan and several other Jets called remaining anonymous cowardly.

“It’s not something that worries me,” Tebow said. “We’ve had a great week of practice. Guys have been awesome. We’re just moving forward.”
