Wilkerson: No concussion, will play

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson (concussion/knee) said he did not suffer a concussion against San Diego and will play against Buffalo. That contradicts Jets head coach Rex Ryan's statement, earlier in the week, that the second-year player did indeed have a concussion. Wilkerson is probable for Sunday.

"I plan on playing Sunday," Wilkerson said on Friday. He insisted that he didn't have a concussion and was cleared to play after passing the required tests. Wilkerson said he feels "good" heading into the team's regular season finale against Buffalo. "They were making sure I didn't have a concussion. But I didn't have one," Wilkerson said. "I just showed symptoms but I was fine."

Wilkerson did not practice Wednesday and had a limited day Thursday before going full on Friday.

The defensive end has been a bright spot for the Jets this season with 85 total tackles. Seven tackles were for a loss and five were sacks.

Ryan has consistently lauded Wilkerson's play, and it would hurt the Jets if he can't play. "That would be a big concern [not to have Wilkerson], without question, because I think Mo’s one of the best interior linemen in the league," Ryan said on Wednesday.
