The Jets will have a second interview with Seahawks vice president of football administration John Idzik, according to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter. The interview is scheduled for Wednesday.
With the Seahawks, Idzik deals mostly with the salary cap and contract negotiations, although he does attend weekly personnel meetings. He's not the traditional "football guy," but the Jets are impressed by his resume. He has worked in the NFL since 1991 -- 11 seasons with the Bucs, three with the Cards and six with the Seahawks.
After interviewing at least nine candidates, the Jets have identified a handful of people with whom they've engaged in further discussions. Former Bears GM Jerry Angelo, Steelers director of football and business Omar Khan, Jets assistant GM Scott Cohen and Idzik are included in that group.
The Jets could have Mike Tannenbaum's replacement by the end of the week.
