FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets replaced one wide body with another, signing DT Jarron Gilbert from their practice squad Wednesday. He takes the spot of DT Howard Green, who was released Tuesday.
Gilbert (6-5, 285), out of San Jose State, was a third-round pick of the Chicago Bears in 2009. He played in four games last season, recording one tackle. This is his first week on the Jets' active roster.
The Jets also filled a spot on their practice squad, signing CB Will Billingsley (North Carolina A&T).
Because of rain, the team practiced indoors Wednesday as it began preparation for the Green Bay Packers. For a change, there were no injured players on the stationary bikes, as the Jets appear healthy off their bye week. CB Darrelle Revis, who said Monday that his troublesome hamstring is 100%, participated in all drills that were open to the media.
