The Snap: Training camp, Day 13

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Jets are back on the field at 10 a.m., their next-to-last full practice before Friday night's preseason opener in Detroit. Stories we'll be watching:

1. As the QB world turns: Rex Ryan revealed plans to tweak his quarterback rotation, giving first-team reps Tuesday to rookie Geno Smith instead of Mark Sanchez. It was supposed to be Sanchez's day. Presumably, Sanchez would get the nod on Wednesday. This, no doubt, will fuel a torrent of speculation. What does it mean? Does it mean Smith will start in Detroit? Does it mean he has the edge over Sanchez? Stay tuned.

2. Trainer's room: We'll have our eye on TE Kellen Winslow, resting the last three days, and RB Chris Ivory (hamstring). The offensively challenged Jets need both players on the field.

3. Tone Time: Injured WR Santonio Holmes hasn't commented on his status in more than a week. With rumors swirling that he will miss the remainder of the preseason, it would be nice to hear from the man himself.

ICYMI: On Monday, the hot-button question was: To boo or not to boo? Ryan said ticket-paying customers have a right to boo Sanchez, or any other player or coach, but he wished they'd cut Sanchez some slack by forgetting the past and focusing on the positives. ... There was no reason to boo him Monday, as Sanchez enjoyed a mistake-free practice. The rest of his teammates, not so much. ... The signs are ominous regarding Santonio Holmes and his surgically repaired foot. ... Meanwhile, Geno Smith played like a rookie -- for the first time.
