Practice report: Ed Reed arrives

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Wearing a green No. 22 jersey, safety Ed Reed made his debut at New York Jets practice on Thursday. Reed participated with the defensive backs in drills for the first time since the Jets announced they had reached an agreement the free agent.

Reed joins Jaiquawn Jarrett, Antonio Allen and Dawan Landry in the safety group, and he took part in all the individual drills during the portion of practice that was open to the media.

Reed played for Jets coach Rex Ryan when Ryan was the defensive coordinator in Baltimore.

Linebacker Ricky Sapp was waived to make room for Reed on the roster.

Linebacker Garrett McIntyre (knee) and wide receiver Jeremy Kerley (elbow) worked out on the bike during practice. DE Leger Douzable, who didn’t practice Wednesday due to an illness, was back on the field Thursday.
