FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – Did Santonio Holmes face a setback? On Wednesday, Jets coach Rex Ryan said no, but on Thursday during the portion of practice open to the media, it appeared the Jets wide receiver was about to miss a second straight day.
Holmes did not practice with the wide receivers during individual drills. On Sunday, he played for the first time in six games, although he played in only about half his usual reps. The former Super Bowl MVP has been dealing with a hamstring injury in addition to recovering from two foot surgeries last season to repair an injured Lisfranc.
Ryan said Wednesday he expected Holmes to practice.
Exacerbating the Jets’ issues at the receiver spot, David Nelson was not at practice. He was not on the injury report Wednesday and there was no immediate reason given for his absence. Jeremy Kerley (elbow) practiced again, but wore the red jersey signifying no contact. Hill practiced for the first time since being told he would have limited reps.
LB Garrett McIntyre (knee) rode the bike after stretching.
