GM Mike Tannenbaum, in an interview Friday morning with Colin Cowherd on ESPN radio, talked about Darrelle Revis' contract situation -- barely. Tannenbaum was asked only one question on the subject and, typically evasive, he didn't say much.
"Our expectation is that Darrelle will retire a Jet many years from now," he said.
There was one nugget that came out of the interview, Tannenbaum noting that "we have reached out to his agents." That, to me, is a clear indication the Jets are motivated to renegotiate Revis' contract, which will have three years remaining if the Jets buy back the 2011 and 2012 years for $20 million.
But my guess is that it won't come to that. Both sides wants to do a deal and my prediction is that Revis, due to make $1 million for the coming season, will have a new, monster deal in place by the start of the regular season.
