Hines Ward gives props to Jets

DALLAS -- The Pittsburgh Steelers-New York Jets lovefest continues.

On Wednesday, Steelers WR Hines Ward was asked if the Green Bay Packers have the best secondary he's faced this season.

"No, the New York Jets had the best tandem," Ward said amid a crowd of reporters at the Steelers' practice facility here for Super Bowl XLV. "The Packers, no disrespect to them, the do have a great secondary, but I think (Darrelle) Revis and (Antonio) Cromartie, those two cornerbacks -- I don't know what your opinion is, but they're the best tandem of cornerbacks out there."

When are the Steelers and Jets going to say something nasty about each other? In the days leading up to the AFC Championship Game, the two teams -- the trash-talking Jets, in particular -- were on their best behavior. Maybe that was part of their problem.

SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE: In his days with the Jets, James Farrior was quiet, unassuming, never the type of player you'd expect to deliver a rah-rah speech. Now 36, and a leader on the Steelers' defense, Farrior is known for his fiery words. Why didn't he speak up with the Jets?

"When I was in New York, I had a lot of older guys, especially at linebacker," he said. "I had Mo Lewis, Marvin Jones, Brian Cox, and those guys were sort of the leaders on the team."

SCRUFF OF LEGENDS: Remember Braylon Edwards' beard? It was kind of a big story around the Jets during training camp and the first month of the season. The Jets' receiver actually spoke of the beard in the third person, making for some funny sound bites.

Well, the most famous beard in the NFL now belongs to Steelers DE Brett Keisel, who has been growing his beard since June.

"I'm going to take it off at some point," Keisel said, adding that he may use the beard to raise money for charity. "But it might come back. I'm going to miss it. I've become quite fond of it. I enjoy taking care of it and brushing it. I'm going to miss it. It's become a part of me."

He has some friends coming to the Super Bowl that will be wearing caveman beards in his honor. Keisel has created quite a hairloom. Pun intended.
