Mark Sanchez is one of 31 players competing to be the cover boy for the EA Sports Madden 2012 video game. Yes, competing.
This year, fans can vote for the player they want to see on the cover, casting their ballots on ESPN's SportsNation. The 31 players are set up in an NCAA-style bracket. (In case you're wondering, the 32nd entry is the Seahawks' 12th man.)
Sanchez is a No. 5 seed, facing Dolphins LT Jake Long (a No. 12 seed) in a first-round matchup. No, it's not in Dayton. That Sanchez is representing the Jets hardly qualifies as a stunner, but get this: Former Jets RB Danny Woodhead, who has achieve cult-hero status in New England, is the Patriots' rep. And he's a No. 4 seed. Take that, Sanchez.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if Sanchez and Woodhead squared off, but they're on opposite sides of the bracket and couldn't meet until the final.
The "finals" voting is April 18-26 and will be announced on SportsNation.
