McKnight out, B. Moore in

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- As expected, RG Brandon Moore (hip) will make his 118th consecutive start Sunday against the Chiefs. Moore didn't practice last week and was listed as questionable, although there never was much doubt that he'd play.

RB/KR Joe McKnight (hyperextended elbow) is inactive, meaning Antonio Cromartie will be the primary kickoff returner. Again, this wasn't a surprise because Ryan said the other day that rookie Bilal Powell would be the No. 3 RB.

In a mild surprise, rookie NT Kenrick Ellis is a healthy scratch. He played poorly last week in a starting role, with Rex Ryan admitting as much. Ryan hinted that Martin Tevaseu as a possible starter in that spot (DT Mike DeVito, knee, is inactive again), but they decided to give Ropati Pitoitua the start.

That Ellis isn't good enough to crack the rotation at this stage of the season is rather telling. We knew he'd be slow to come along because of his small-college background, but you figured he'd at least be able to play off the bench.

The Jets' other inactives: QB Kevin OConnell, WR Eron Riley, CB Ellis Lankster and T Austin Howard.

For the Chiefs, backup QB Kyle Orton (finger) is inactive. That leaves rookie Ricky Stanzi as Tyler Palko's only backup.

The Chiefs' other inactives: WR Jeremy Horne, OT David Mims, TE Jake O'Connell, DE Brandon Bair, NT Jerrell Powe and S Donald Washington.
