Former players, one representing each team, will announce the second-round picks next Friday night at the NFL draft. The New York Jets are enlisting a former first-round choice, quarterback Chad Pennington.
Pennington has been more involved in team-related activities over the past couple of years, and that's good to see. As you know, he was unceremoniously dumped a few weeks before the 2008 season, when the Jets developed a crush on Brett Favre. A lot of players would've held a grudge, but Pennington has let it go. He remains one of the most popular former players in recent history.
Interesting note on Pennington: He's 37 years old, only a year younger than Favre when he was traded to the Jets.
