The Bucs introduced former 49ers S Dashon Goldson on Wednesday at a news conference, but the elephant in the room was Darrelle Revis. The Jets are shopping Revis, and the Bucs are known to be interested, so ...
"Everything's a possibility, but we're not allowed to talk about players under contract with other teams," Bucs coach Greg Schiano told the NFL Network.
Schiano also had this to say: "We’re trying to get better and anybody that can help us do that, they’re definitely on our radar."
Obviously, Schiano had to play it straight, lest he be accused of tampering -- or hurting the Bucs' negotiating position.
So where do things stand? The Jets and Bucs have engaged in talks, as ESPNNewYork.com reported Tuesday night, but no trade appears imminent. Basically, it's a staredown. The first soft deadline occurs Saturday. If Revis is on the Jets' roster, he's owed a $1 million roster bonus -- probably not a large enough amount to spur the Jets into a sense of urgency.
Meanwhile, Revis took a break from rehabbing his knee injury in Arizona. He's on a vacation in Paris, accompanied by his business manager, John Geiger, who tweeted a photo. By the way, Revis is pictured wearing a Falcons hat.
That'll probably end up in the headlines somewhere.
