Jeffries out Friday vs. Toronto

Jared Jeffries will sit out of the Knicks' game in Toronto on Friday because of a sore right knee.

Jeffries aggravated his knee in the third quarter on Wednesday night in Philadelphia.

"I just took a wrong step, my knee kind of buckled. Hopefully it will get better quick, we'll see what happens," he said.

He will get treatment on the injury over the next two days and plans to get an MRI on Saturday or Monday. He said after the game that his knee is so swollen that "it's hard for me to have control of what happens."

Jeffries did not rule out the possibility of playing on Saturday against Detroit.

Jeffries missed four games earlier this month with a right knee injury. The Knicks struggled defensively in Jeffries' absence. Tyson Chandler was also sidelined for two of the four games Jeffries sat out.

With Jeffries out, look for Josh Harrelson to see increased playing time. Jeffries is an exceptional team defender and is adept at taking charges, so the Knicks will miss him on the defensive end.
