Amare Stoudemire took a quick break from training with Hakeem Olajuwon to fly to Los Angeles this week to film an appearance on "The Mindy Project."
Stoudemire got the opportunity to guest star as himself on FOX's news sitcom after FOX reached out to his agent, Happy Walters, who's based in Los Angeles. The Knicks power forward appeared on camera along with Knicks free agent Baron Davis and Pacers forward Danny Granger.
In the fourth episode of Mindy Kaling's show, her gynecologist character goes on an outing with her co-workers to a nightclub, where she winds up hanging out in the VIP section with the three NBA players. Click here for a photo of Stoudemire and Davis on set with Kaling.
For Stoudemire and Davis, this isn't their first on-screen cameo. Stoudemire acted as a party dancer in the 2011 film "New Year's Eve," and this year Davis played a high school gym teacher in Adam Sandler's movie "That's My Boy."
After Stoudemire took part in the one-day shoot, he flew back to Houston to continue his workouts with Olajuwon, which include on-court skills sessions in the morning and track in the evening. Click here for the latest behind-the-scenes footage.
Stoudemire wraps up his training with Olajuwon on Sunday, then travels to New York City to promote his new book, "STAT: Home Court" at Citigroup Barnes & Noble (160 East 54th at Third Avenue). The public book signing starts at Noon ET on Monday.
