ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports that Kenyon Martin is the top free agent on the Knicks' wish list, but the team hasn't been able to convince him to accept a deal for the veteran's minimum.
If he agreed to a deal with the Knicks, the 34-year-old Martin could provide a strong backup for starting power forward Amare Stoudemire.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Knicks currently have 19 players under contract, 13 of whom are signed to guaranteed deals.
NBA rules stipulate that teams can have a maximum of 15 players on the opening night roster. So, in theory, the Knicks can add two players to the roster, assuming they don't keep any of the players under contracts who are not fully guaranteed.
Martin, a 12-year veteran, averaged 5.2 points and 4.3 rebounds in 22.4 minutes for the Clippers last season. He signed with Los Angeles after a stint in China during the lockout.
Question: Would you like the Knicks to sign Kenyon Martin?
