Look for more of Billups at SG

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- I touched on this a little in this afternoon's Knicks chat, and Mike D'Antoni reiterated it in his pre-game meeting with reporters: There will be times when the Knicks use Chauncey Billups off the ball at shooting guard (as he did last summer for Team USA) when Toney Douglas is on the court with Billups.

D'Antoni also revealed that he gave Douglas a hint about tying the team record for 3-pointers in a game when he re-inserted him for Billups with 2 minutes remaining in last night's victory over Memphis.

"I told him if he has an open 3 he should take it," D'Antoni said, "but I didn't say anything about the record."

As he was checking in, Douglas was informed by one of the scorekeepers that he needed one 3-pointer to equal the mark shared by Latrell Sprewell (twice) and John Starks. Douglas got that ninth 3-pointer with 17.8 seconds left. (The NBA record of 12 3-pointers in a game is shared by Donyell Marshall and Kobe Bryant).
