If only the Knicks had Brook Lopez or Joakim Noah ... Is that what it comes down to in the Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes? ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard tweeted that while Anthony's preferred trade destination is the Knicks, "NYK lack of draft pics hurts chances. Gotta get third team involved." And that's why the Nuggets are more willing to talk to the Nets and Bulls directly because they have burgeoning All-Star big men in Lopez and Noah, respectively. Thing is, the Nets are not budging on Lopez and the Bulls don't want to give up Noah. In fact, Scottie Pippen told ESPNChicago.com that the Bulls should not trade Noah for Anthony because Noah is "going to come out and play night in and night out." Fortunately, this gives the Knicks a window to operate, but only a tiny one. According to Broussard, the feeling around the league is that they'll have to get a deal done by next week before training camp starts. What also sets the Knicks back is that if they were to offer a package for Melo right now, they could only include a 2014 first-round pick at the earliest (ProBasketballTalk.com). So all signs point to saying adios Anthony until possibly next summer, unless you see optimism in Isiah Thomas' proclamation that Anthony's decision will come down to the Knicks or Bulls (USA Today).
