STAT: 'We're looking to do something special'

Even though Regis Philbin calls himself "The King of New York" and Amare Stoudemire "The Prince," STAT is sure living like a king.

Stoudemire made a guest appearance this morning on "LIVE! with Regis & Kelly," and he revealed that he has a barbershop and recording studio in his $37,500-a-month penthouse apartment in New York City's Meatpacking District. According to Philbin's co-host, Kelly Ripa, Stoudemire is New York City's No. 1 bachelor.

Stoudemire's response? "Is that right?" Philbin asked him if he had a girlfriend, but STAT said he didn't and was only focusing on the playoffs and bonding with his new teammates.

"I think now it's just a matter of us continuing to learn how to play together," Stoudemire said. "We're fairly new with each other, and it takes more time to get the chemistry. But it's now the playoffs and so I think we're ready."

His thoughts on the Celtics? "They're a veteran team. Most of the guys are 30 and up, but they're definitely a veteran team. They've been in the playoffs many years and have won championships before. They're well-experienced."

When asked if the Knicks can beat the Cs, Stoudemire said "absolutely" and that "we're looking to do something special." Now that he has Carmelo Anthony as a sidekick -- actually for the second time -- no one can write off the underdog Knicks just yet.

"Me and Carmelo have been friends since high school," Stoudemire said. "We played together on All-Star teams in high school. We were in the same high school class; he went to Syracuse and I went to the NBA. And now to be a teammate back with him again is a lot of fun. It's great."
