GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The New York Knicks' lackluster start to the season has them stumbling in the ESPN power rankings.
Our man Marc Stein compiles the rankings and had the Knicks ranked 11th last week. This week, the Knicks are down to No. 20 after their 1-2 start.
Here's Stein's breakdown:
"Two get-well games loom this week against Charlotte. That's the good news. The bad news: New York already needs get-well games after a couple of underwhelming performances at home against Milwaukee and Minnesota. It would appear that the Knicks, like it or not, badly miss J.R. Smith."
After holding off Milwaukee, losing on a ridiculous floater by Derrick Rose and coming out flat against the Timberwolves, the Knicks do need a get-well week against Charlotte. After the two games against the Bobcats, the Knicks face the Spurs at home on Sunday. So it would be a nice week for the Knicks to go at least 2-1.
