Opening Tip: the $2.5 million exception

Every weekday morning throughout the season, ESPNNewYork.com will tackle a burning question about the Knicks in our "Opening Tip" segment.

Today's Burning Question: What should the Knicks do with their $2.5 million exception?

The Knicks still have a $2.5 million "room" exception to offer free agents. There are potential free-agent targets out there, such as James Posey and the recently waived Mickael Pietrus. And the Knicks have room to add one to their roster.

There are also players overseas in the Chinese Basketball Association, such as Kenyon Martin, who can sign with NBA teams once their CBA team's season is over.

Of course, the Knicks can also choose to stand pat and not use the exception, though that would make little sense because there is no guarantee they will have it next season.

With all that said, here's our question for today: if you were interim GM Glen Grunwald, what would you do with the exception?
