NEW YORK -- A Beyoncé concert at Citi Field a week ago beat up the outfield at the New York Mets' home stadium.
The grounds crew resodded the outfield after the show, but seams in the grass remained as the Mets returned to Queens for Tuesday’s home opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Manager Terry Collins and assistant general manager John Ricco were in the outfield in the early afternoon inspecting the playability.
“I don’t think it’s going to be a major issue,” Collins said. “But I think any time you have those seams that are there, we’ve got to kind of see how balls are going to bounce off those.”
