The Brooklyn Cyclones were swept out of the New York-Penn League Championship Series with a 5-1 loss to Tri-City in Game 2 of the best-of-three matchup Tuesday. The Wally Backman-managed club had been rained out the previous two nights and had needed to win Game 2 to force a winner-take-all deciding game.
Cyclones starter Yohan Almonte surrendered three runs (one earned) and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings and was charged with the loss. Tri-City, a Houston Astros affiliate, broke a 1-all tie with a two-run fifth inning during which the Cycones committed three errors -- by right fielder Cory Vaughn, third baseman James Schroeder and Almonte.
