Game 146: Pirates @ Mets

10:10 p.m.: Mets win, 8-7. Raul Valdes is the winner. Hisanori Takahashi gets the save, his seventh.

10:05 p.m.: Andrew McCutchen homers off closer Hisanori Takahashi to lead off the ninth as the Pirates move within 8-7. The Mets are bidding for their first three-game winning streak since June.

9:33 p.m.: Mets lead, 8-5, in the seventh. Raul Valdes is in line to be the winning pitcher because he was in the game when the Mets took the lead. The only way Valdes could be denied is if official scorer determined he was both "ineffective" and "brief." Valdes was ineffective, allowing four runs. However, he lasted 1 2/3 innings -- not brief enough.

8:51 p.m.: Raul Valdes allows four runs in the fourth. The Mets answer with seven runs (five unearned) in the bottom half, thanks to a pair of Pirates errors. It's Mets 7, Pirates 5 after four.

7:50 p.m.: Jenrry Mejia is pulled from the game after a visit from trainers with one out in the third inning and a 2-0 count on Andrew McCutchen. There was no immediate indication of the issue, but Mejia had a strain in the back of his right shoulder with Double-A Binghamton after moving from the major league bullpen to the B-Mets' rotation. Raul Valdes enters.
