The Mets have confirmed the four managerial finalists are Terry Collins, Bob Melvin, Chip Hale and Wally Backman.
Assistant GM John Ricco said the fact the four have existing Mets ties was not planned.
"That's kind of the way it worked out, and we're fine with that," Ricco said.
Ricco reiterated that he hoped the four interviews could be completed this week in Orlando, while the entire staff is assembled, although obviously with deference to Sandy Alderson's family situation.
Alderson left Tuesday night to return to St. Petersburg. His family will have a memorial service there for Alderson's father, John Alderson, on Saturday morning.
"We're going to make an attempt, but there's nothing over our head to say we have to," Ricco said about getting the interviews done this week in Florida.
