If the Wilpons can't locate a minority investor for the Mets, they would be willing to include a portion of SportsNet New York in the transaction, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Fred and Jeff Wilpon, in announcing Friday their intention to sell 20 to 25 percent of the team, at that point said SNY was not on the table.
But the WSJ reports:
The person familiar with the matter said the team is confident it can sell a minority share of the ballclub without including a piece of SNY but would consider including a piece of SNY in the deal "if and when it became a necessity."
The Wilpons are the majority owners of SNY, with Comcast and Time Warner minority partners.
