Game 18: Braves @ Mets

3:57 p.m.: K-Rod records the save for a third straight day. Mets win, 3-1, and secure second straight series victory. They've also returned to .500.

3:40 p.m.: Jose Reyes leaves his feet to snare pinch hitter Brian McCann's soft liner to end the top of the eighth and strand two runners. Mets lead 3-1.

3:17 p.m.: The Mets take a 3-1 lead against Jair Jurrjens in the seventh. After Ike Davis walks, Jeff Francoeur delivers an RBI double off the wall in right-center and advances to third on the throw home. Francoeur scores on Henry Blanco's sacrifice fly. Blanco had thrown out another runner stealing to end the top half of the inning. He's now 4-for-4 in retiring would-be stealers this season.

3:01 p.m.: Jason Bay has driven in Jose Reyes for a second straight game, this time with a two-out double in the sixth, after Reyes walked, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error.

2:53 p.m.: Manny Acosta works out of the jam. It's Braves 1, Mets 0, middle sixth.

2:47 p.m.: David Ross' one-out single in the sixth scores Melky Cabrera and breaks up the scoreless duel. Jon Niese is out at 116 pitches. Manny Acosta faces his former team with two runners on base.

2:28 p.m.: It's the Braves who look like the fundamentally deprived team this weekend. With Jon Niese on the ropes with two runners in scoring position and one out in the fifth, Troy Glaus lined out to Jeff Francoeur in modest right field. Martin Prado tagged up from second to third. The problem? Yunel Escobar didn't tag up from third to home. The double play was scored: 9-9-4-5-6. Still no score, middle fifth.

2:11 p.m.: Chipper Jones departed with a sore right hip.

1:57 p.m.: Martin Prado has replaced Chipper Jones at third base. Chipper celebrates his 38th birthday today. No immediate word on issue.

1:55 p.m.: Fighting a very difficult sun in center field, and with his glasses on, Angel Pagan can't catch Troy Glaus' two-out fly ball. The play is ruled a double. Jon Niese ensures no damage. After walking Matt Diaz, Niese retires Melky Cabrera on a liner to Pagan. Teams still scoreless, heading to the bottom of the third inning.

1:24 p.m.: Jon Niese works around an error by David Wright and a pair of walks to strand the bases loaded as Matt Diaz and ex-Yankee Melky Cabrera strike out.
