Left-hander Taylor Tankersley's sense of humor created an awkward moment for Mike Pelfrey.
Pelfrey, himself a new father, asked Tankersley's wife Lauren when she is due.
"Due with what?" she deadpanned.
Said Pelfrey: "My heart skipped a beat."
Actually, she's due Friday. Tankersley will be able to remain in camp because Lauren and Taylor's families are with them in Port St. Lucie.
The family has picked the name Huck for their soon-to-be-born son. The reason: It's the name of country star Brad Paisley's son, and Tankersley is into music.
Tankersley and Josh Stinson recently were going over guitar notes together in the clubhouse. And a handful of players have jam sessions together, including Tobi Stoner on the spoons. Tankersley hasn't ruled out appearing on an open mic night with other players, although Dillon Gee -- one prospective band member -- said there's no way he's performing in public.
