Young sets franchise record ... with bat

Forget Scott Hairston. Chris Young owns Cole Hamels. In his first at-bat as a Met, Young opened the third inning with a single off the southpaw, then contributed a broken-bat RBI single later in the inning to give the Mets a 6-0 lead and chase Hamels.

The last pitcher with two hits in an inning was Madison Bumgarner last year with the San Francisco Giants.

The last Met? There was none until Young performed the feat.
