Season-ending surgery for Ike?

New York Mets first baseman Ike Davis will stay off of his injured left ankle for the next three weeks with the hope of avoiding season-ending surgery.

Davis felt significant pain in his ankle while running over the weekend and flew to North Carolina where he received a cortisone shot. He hopes that the shot will relieve any significant pain associated with the injury but, if not, he is resigned to the fact that he will have season-ending surgery to repair the injury.
