Mets third baseman David Wright went 3-for-6 with three singles and three runs scored in nine innings of play for St. Lucie (A) Monday night, the team announced. It had only been expected that Wright would play seven innings.
Wright, on the disabled list retroactive to May 16 with a lower back stress fracture, went 2-for-4 with a double, walk, run scored and an RBI for St. Lucie on Sunday. Wright is now 6-of-15 with six runs scored and one RBI in four rehab games.
Mets manager Terry Collins said the Mets are looking toward the weekend as the return date for their third baseman. He also said before Monday's game that Wright should play a full nine innings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
