Pelfrey has the worst winning percentage (.125) and the least number of wins (one) of the 76 pitchers with at least 10 career starts against the Marlins. Prior to Monday night, in his 15 previous starts against Florida, Pelfrey was 1-7 with a 5.29 ERA and was on a seven-game losing streak. He has not beaten the Marlins since his rookie season on July 8, 2006, at Shea Stadium.

Pelfrey went six innings and allowed three runs (two earned), gave up six hits Monday night, walking three and striking out three. On the surface, this looks like a good performance (a quality start) but he was only saved from getting the loss by Lucas Duda's theatrical, ninth-inning home run.

Pelfrey brushed aside any significance of this defeat when he said after the game, "I think all losses are the same."
