Jose Reyes intends to test his strained left hamstring Sunday by running the bases for the first time since suffering the injury. Reyes will do the cutting with partial intensity. If all goes well, he will up the intensity running the bases Monday. Reyes will accompany the team to Philadelphia.
"If I do run the bases tomorrow, it's not going to be a lot," he said.
Reyes is eligible to return from the disabled list Tuesday, but he is unlikely to be ready to be activated that soon. He expects to play in a minor league rehab game before returning, but is unsure where.
Reyes did a total of 440 yards in short bursts running straight ahead at Citi Field on Saturday and looked "terrific," Terry Collins said.
• Collins weighed using Lucas Duda in right field with Nick Evans at first base against Brewers southpaw Randy Wolf, but opted to start Scott Hairston over Duda. Collins said he felt obligated to get Evans and Hairston at-bats and did not want to sit Angel Pagan to open a lineup spot because he likes Pagan's recent at-bats.
