Terry Collins isn't exactly sure if there's a correlation between Jason Bay analyzing film with Mets hitting coach Dave Hudgens and Bay's recent hot streak, but the Mets manager has seen an improvement from Bay at the plate recently.
"I hope it's working. I know that Jason's a lot more comfortable at the plate. If you look at his swing, his swing is a lot freer, a lot looser," Collins said. "He's getting the bat out front easier. For some reason, he just looks more comfortable playing. And i know that comes with having more success offensively. I see a difference in his swing, for sure."
Bay and Hudgens recently analyzed video of Bay from earlier in his career to Bay as a Met to try to correct him at the plate. While it may or may not be a coincidence, in his last 10 games, Bay is batting .382 with three doubles and three home runs dating to Aug. 31. He also has 10 RBIs in those games.
