Santana remains lined up for Opening Day

Johan Santana remains on track to start Opening Day, and it remains the Mets' plan to use him April 5 against the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field. Still, Terry Collins has held off formally naming Santana the Opening Day starter so far because he doesn't want it viewed as a setback if Santana, for some reason, feels he needs a couple of extra days and ultimately pitches sometime else during the first five games of the season.

The Mets' projected rotation remains Santana, R.A. Dickey and Jon Niese in the opening series against Atlanta, followed by Mike Pelfrey, Dillon Gee and back to Santana for the second series, against the Washington Nationals.
