The Mets, who floated pregame the possibility of calling up a catcher from Triple-A Buffalo with Mike Nickeas suffering from a bad case of the flu, indicated after Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Astros that they would stand pat with their current 25-man roster.
Nickeas remained at the team hotel during the game, but did enter the clubhouse as his teammates were departing. Looking ill, he went directly to the trainers' room.
Lucas Duda also has been hit by the flu, but he pinch hit for a second straight day Tuesday, striking out in place of Jon Niese to end the Mets' two-run fourth. Terry Collins said Duda could return to the lineup for Wednesday's matinee.
