LOS ANGELES -- Jason Bay rode a stationary bicycle Wednesday for 20 minutes as he began physical activity nearly two weeks after suffering a concussion. Terry Collins said Bay felt fine and did not experience a recurrence of concussion symptoms.
Still, that is only an initial step before Bay progresses to running and then baseball activities. As a result, it seems logical to conclude that Bay would not return until after the All-Star break, since the Mets complete first-half play in 10 days.
Mike Baxter, meanwhile, has not done anything notable in terms of physical activity since suffering a displaced right collarbone in that no-hitter-saving catch on June 1, Collins told ESPNNewYork.com. Team officials initially estimated a six-week timetable for returning to the majors.
