Tim Byrdak, who underwent surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder as well as torn meniscus cartilage in his right knee on Wednesday, indicated both procedures were successful.
Byrdak tweeted: "Surgery went really well. Inch to inch and a half tear in the capsule is fixed. 20% tear in right meniscus fixed as well. C you @Citi tom!"
Byrdak, who turns 39 this offseason, hopes to revive his career. There is an estimated 12-month recovery time from the shoulder surgery, so the best-case scenario might be September 2013 for major league action. Byrdak has conceded the injury might be career-ending, even with the surgery.
