Shortstop Omar Quintanilla has been pulled from Triple-A Las Vegas' game on Wednesday night after three innings, signaling he likely would be the replacement assuming Ruben Tejada lands on the DL with a quadriceps injury.
Quintanilla, who failed to make the team out of spring training when the Mets opted not to carry a backup shortstop, is having a torrid May. He is hitting .413 with one homer, 10 RBIs and 10 walks during the month.
Overall, Quintanilla is hitting .333 in Triple-A this season.
He hit a combined .243 with four homers and 16 RBIs in 169 at-bats last season with the Mets and Baltimore Orioles.
