PITTSBURGH -- Terry Collins said he owed Josh Satin the start on Sunday at first base, even after the Pittsburgh Pirates switched from left-hander Jeff Locke to right-hander Gerrit Cole on the mound.

Of course, it did not hurt that Ike Davis is 2-for-20 in his past six games after a three-hit return in Milwaukee.

Satin had started only twice on the three-city road trip -- when the Mets faced lefties Tom Gorzelanny and Barry Zito.

"He deserves to play a little bit more than he's been playing," Collins said. "We're glad to have Ike back. [Satin] was going to play today against Locke anyway. I just thought: You know what? I'm going to get him in there. This guy is hitting .375. And it's pretty hard to keep that bat sitting on that bench."
