WASHINGTON -- Daniel Murphy matched career highs with two homers and five RBIs in the Mets' 11-0 win in Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader.

After going 4-for-5, he now is 11-for-20 over his past five games and hitting .366 since July 6.

"Zim made a couple of mistakes to me," the streaky Murphy said, referring to Nats starter Jordan Zimmermann. "And, usually, when he makes mistakes I hit them for singles. But today I was able to drive them. I felt fortunate about that."

Said Terry Collins: "We've said it for the last month: He's going to get hot. And when he gets hot, we've got a chance to be dangerous. Let's just hope he stays like that."
