After a stellar diving play by Justin Turner up the middle and feed to Murphy, the second baseman had a chance to turn an inning-ending double play in the fifth to preserve a 1-0 lead. Instead Murphy threw the ball wide of first base, hit runner Wilson Ramos and had the ball kick away, allowing Jayson Werth to score an unearned run all the way from second base.

"I just got caught up in his great play," Murphy said about Turner's highlight-reel stop. "He fed it to me and I had all day, and I just got caught up in his play and I threw it in the crapper. It cost us the ballgame."

Murphy has 15 errors this season, including an MLB-leading 13 at second base.

"The starting pitching has been doing their job," Murphy said. "I haven't been catching the ball lately. ... That was a tough one to swallow. I should have made the play."
